Youth Work

Our Youth Work Team collaborates with young residents to access opportunities, develop skills, and create positive change as identified by our communities.

What we do

We offer a core youth programme for local young people aged 11-19, and up to 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The programme aligns with the school term timetable, there is something on offer everyday after school, Monday to Friday focusing on fun, friendship and opportunities for young people to choose what they want to do.

We also run trips and activities in the school holidays for all our regular members.

Weller youth centre

We are very excited to announce that our new partnership youth centre, named Weller Youth Centre, is due to officially open in April 2026.

Between now and then, we will be working with young people to develop the programme and services to meet local need.

Our new youth centre is funded through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Youth Investment Fund, following a successful bid from The Hangleton & Knoll Project and the council.

The youth centre development is situated in Knoll Park, full directions can be viewed here.

“It's great to work with other people and meet new people - being a young leader provides me with a variety of social skills that help me in everyday life, and helps me step out of my comfort zone to socialise."

Our youth workers support young people with:

  • youth clubs for young people (11–25)
  • street-based community youth work (detached/outreach)
  • planning and establishing their own groups and projects; with the longer-term aim of these groups becoming self-supporting
  • promoting personal and social development
  • enabling young people to have a voice, influence and place in their community
  • helping build resilience and confidence
  • developing life skills to learn, work, enjoy and achieve
  • engaging with young people on their own territory we are able to make contact and build relationships with individuals who do not always access more mainstream youth provision

Working in partnership with our open-access provision

Our team and partners work together to provide various opportunities for promoting a healthy lifestyle. This includes free indoor and outdoor sports sessions for hundreds of young people each year at local community centers and schools. Our delivery locations are chosen to meet the needs of the community, making it easy for young people to access Youth Work programs close to home.
